Choose the right MATTRESS

We have also included mattresses in our range at Mountfield. High quality, certified, from a domestic manufacturer and at very reasonable prices. You will find a wide selection of mattresses in our e-shop.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MATTRESS?

ACCORDING TO AGE:

  • Children under the age of 15, whose spine is still developing, should prefer to sleep on a medium to firm mattress to ensure that their body is properly supported while they sleep.
  • An adult of normal weight should be guided more by how they feel and whether they sleep more on their side or on their back. Some people sleep better on a firm base, some on a soft base.
  • Seniors should prefer a medium-firm mattress. Too soft is hard to get up from, and too hard can cause pain in large joints, especially hip joints.

ACCORDING TO BODY WEIGHT:

  • The vast majority of adult mattresses manufactured have a minimum weight capacity of 90 kilograms.
  • If you weigh less, you don't need to worry too much about the firmness of the mattress and look more at its other features.
  • People weighing over 90 kg should definitely go for a mattress with a medium or high firmness.
  • In the case of double/partner beds, it is sometimes better not to insist on a large joint mattress, but to choose two mattresses.

ACCORDING TO BODY POSITION IN SLEEP:

  • The right mattress should support and adapt to your body. And that's on the most massive parts of your body - your shoulder blades, shoulders and hips.
  • For example, if you sleep on your back most of the night, it's a good idea to have a firmer mattress so your hips don't sink and you don't get up with a sore back.
  • If you sleep on your side, you should go for a softer mattress, which will take pressure off your shoulders and hips and keep your spine straight.
  • If you sleep on your stomach most of the night or are constantly rolling over, then it's probably best to take a happy medium between the firm and soft versions.

ACCORDING TO MATERIAL:

  • The basic material from which our mattresses are made is special foam. Mountfield offers mattresses made from the most popular and recommended foam types. The first is the classic polyurethane foam, which excels in elasticity and adapts perfectly to the body. The advantage of foam mattresses is also their low price.
  • Another type is memory foam, We would say that it is a smart material that can change its firmness depending on pressure and temperature. It distributes the pressure of your body, stabilises it in an optimal position, relieves back pain and also prevents possible bedsores.
  • Cold foam is modern material has larger pores, is more breathable and dissipates heat better (thus also reducing the occurrence of dust mites and mould).
